Setup guide
Connect AgentBuild to ChatGPT or Claude.
During beta, AgentBuild connects through developer mode in ChatGPT, which needs a ChatGPT Plus account. Setup takes about two minutes and we walk you through it. Works with Claude too.
Nothing to install. You add AgentBuild inside the AI you already use, approve the connection once, and every later change to your website is a message in that chat.
Before you start
- An AgentBuild account. Start your site if you don’t have one yet; adding a card at checkout activates it (the first 100 accounts get their first year free, after that a 14-day trial).
- For ChatGPT: a ChatGPT Plus account with developer mode turned on (step 1 below turns it on).
- For Claude: a Claude account. If your Claude account is managed by your organization, an owner adds the connector first and then you connect to it.
ChatGPT
Turn on developer mode, add AgentBuild.
About two minutes, once. Works on the web and in the ChatGPT desktop app; the mobile app can use the connection after it’s set up.
In ChatGPT, open Settings, then Apps (some accounts label it Apps & Connectors), then Advanced settings, and switch Developer mode on. If you don’t see the switch, your account is not on Plus yet.
Back in Apps, choose Create (ChatGPT calls the result an app).
Name it AgentBuild, and paste this as the MCP server URL:
https://api.agentbuild.it/v1/mcpSet Authentication to OAuth.
Tick the box acknowledging you’re adding an app yourself, then create it. ChatGPT asks this for any app added in developer mode.
ChatGPT sends you to AgentBuild to authorize. Sign in with your AgentBuild email, approve, and you’re back in ChatGPT.
Start a new chat, pick AgentBuild from the tools menu (the + in the message box), and paste the starting prompt from your dashboard. Your dashboard marks the connection done on the first call.
Claude
Add AgentBuild as a connector.
On claude.ai (or in the Claude desktop app), open Settings, then Connectors.
Choose Add custom connector, name it AgentBuild, and paste the server URL:
https://api.agentbuild.it/v1/mcpClaude sends you to AgentBuild to authorize. Sign in with your AgentBuild email and approve.
In a new chat, make sure AgentBuild is enabled in the tools menu, then paste the starting prompt from your dashboard.
Using Claude Code instead? One command: claude mcp add agentbuild --transport http https://api.agentbuild.it/v1/mcp
If something looks different
- OpenAI moves the developer mode switch between the Apps and Connectors sections as ChatGPT changes. It is always under Settings; look for Advanced.
- The authorize step opens agentbuild.it. Use the same email you signed up with; the code arrives by email, there is no password.
- Still stuck? Your dashboard repeats these steps with copy buttons, and support is a real person.
Ready when you are.
First 100 accounts: first year free. $0 for 12 months, then $15/month unless canceled, on monthly billing.
